What is Generosity 2016?

Generosity 2016: The Power of WE is the name of our 2016 campaign to fund our operational budget for the coming year. In years past, we’ve referred to this campaign as a “stewardship” campaign – and the concept of stewardship is still a valid and helpful concept to explore as disciples of Jesus (see Matthew 25:14-30). This year, we hope to explore this important part of discipleship from another biblical perspective – the perspective of generosity.

Generosity has its roots in biblical stories like David  and Mephibosheth (2 Samuel, chapter 9) and the parables of the lost sheep, lost coin, and lost son (Luke, chapter 15). As disciples, we are constantly on a journey toward the life that Jesus calls us to – a life that mirrors the work and person of Jesus himself. The attitude and action of generosity is an incredibly important part of our formation as disciples of Jesus. When we embrace the attitude of generosity found in Scripture, our actions as disciples of Jesus help transform us into the people God longs for us to be.

How Do I Get Involved?

Read:
Take a moment to read through the story of David  and Mephibosheth (2 Samuel, chapter 9) and the parables of the lost sheep, lost coin, and lost son (Luke, chapter 15).

Pray:
Ask God to begin forming in you a heart for generosity like David, the shepherd, the woman, and the father in the passages you just read.

Consider:
Take a moment to reflect on how your time, talents, and treasure are (or could be) opportunities to embrace the generous life that Jesus calls us to.
