A Limited Vision of Hope
1I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it through the Holy Spirit— 2I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race, 4the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption to sonship; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. 5Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised!5 Or Messiah, who is over all. God be forever praised! Or Messiah. God who is over all be forever praised! Amen.
- What are the sources of your discouragement?
- If you can see the goal ahead of you, how does that influence how you deal with the disappointments along the way?
- Is it possible that the goal you’re moving toward isn’t the goal God has in mind for you? Could it be that your struggles seem futile because there’s no real substance to the goal?
- How might you begin to appreciate the journey…..even if it feels more like treading water than moving?
