How Much More Can You Carry?

Psalm 23; Luke 15:3-7

1The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

3Then Jesus told them this parable: 4“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?5And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders6and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’7I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Remember Shrek - the lost sheep

  1. Our role is to recognize the relationship - God is my shepherd.
  2. Our greatest need is to recognize we have a need.
  3. We are smarter than sheep.
  4. Jesus is my shepherd.
  5. Let Him lead you beside His choice of still waters.
  6. Let Him lead you through the tough times.
  7. He is with you even when there are enemies at the table.
  8. The pinnacle - I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
